Welcome back to another theme. This time I did a little theme dinner for a Lord of the Rings movie marathon. We needed some hearty food for this undertaking. Lembas Bread or elven bread is a great addition to your next Lord of the Rings viewing party! Its super easy to make and can add a little bit of magic to your movie watching experience. Whether you are just watching with your friend or a whole grroup of friends this waybread has a sweet and pleasant taste. 🙂

This week, we had a Lord of the Rings inspired theme. We had to start it off with this iconic bread. This Lembas bread turned out great! It was slightly sweet with a hint of cinnamon. I was surprised at how easy it was to make. It paired well with the heaviness of the chicken pot pie and potato soup we had to go with it!

I could see myself making this again as side for chili, soup, or just a little snack. The best part is that I usually have all of the ingredients on hand at any time.

To enhance your Lembas bread presentation, consider purchasing these Parchment Paper Green Leaves. You can use them to wrap your Lembas bread. This adds whimsy and aesthetic to any Lord of the Rings party! Everyone now that fun little details like this can add to any gathering!

  • Very filling and adds to the heartiness of the meal. It also goes nicely with stews or soups. Check out our Stovetop Lasagna recipe for more soup or stew ideas to go with this bread!
  • Adds a small amount of sweetness to a savory meal to balance out the flavors.
  • This recipe can last for about 3-4 days refrigerated. Making it the perfect recipe to make ahead so it doesn’t interrupt your movie watching marathon!
  • Lembas bread is also great to freeze and save for later. Which can help cut down time in the kitchen if you make a large batch.

    List of Ingredient:
  • All Purpose Flour- No need to run to the store to get bread flour or cake flour! All purpose flour is perfect for this bread.
  • Baking Powder- This allows the bread to rise by acting immediately to the moisture and heat producing carbon dioxide. This creates a light and airy texture without using yeast.
  • Salt- creates a delicious salty and sweet combination with the honey and sugar added to the bread.
  • Butter- creates a soft texture for your bread and increases moisture content.
  • Brown Sugar- Adding brown sugar instead of white sugar increases the flavor in your Lembas bread! If you don’t have any brown sugar, replace it with white sugar. Then, increase the amount of honey added by 1/2 tablespoon.
  • Cinnamon- Cinnamon is a great addition to this bread and gives it a delicious flavor!
  • Honey- Honey adds a delicious earthy flavor to our bread.
  • Heavy Cream- Heavy cream adds much needed moisture to our dough as well as a creamy texture.
  • Vanilla- Vanilla goes will with our cinnamon and honey flavors and balances out the flavors.
