Halloween Cracker Toffee

The classic cracker toffee with a spooky twist

Equipment

  • 1 medium saucepan
  • 1 13.25x9.25 baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, unsalted
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a 9x13 baking sheet with parchment paper   
  • Cover parchment with saltine crackers in a single layer
  • In a saucepan, heat the sugar and butter on medium heat, stirring frequently.
  • When the butter is melted, cook for 3-5 minutes or until the mixture comes to a boil
  • Remove the pan from the heat once it comes to a boil; stir in vanilla
  • Pour hot mixture over saltine crackers and put the pan into the oven and let cook for 5 minutes
  • Carefully, remove the pan from the oven and top the crackers with the chocolate chips, carefully spreading the chocolate chips over the crackers
  • Place the crackers back in the oven for 2-3 minutes to melt chocolate 
  • Remove pan from oven and spread melted chocolate. 

To Create Spider Webs

  • Melt white coating candy until thin and smooth
  • Place melted candy coating in squeeze bottle or piping bag
  • Draw circles with the piping bag in the melted chocolate
  • Drag a toothpick through the circles to create the spider web
  • Allow chocolate to cool until hardened before cracking
